FTFA was started in 1990 and has distributed millions of trees and helped to set up thousands of natural food gardens for the poor and underprivileged. They work with many companies, schools, churches, aid agencies, media and individuals etc. There are a number of ongoing projects.
FTFA started the Trees for Home Programme in 2000, and is recognized by the National Department, and has been recognized by the National Department of Housing, Agriculture and Forestry as a programme vital to the development of sustainable human settlements and has won several awards.
